In Greek mythology, Amphion is the son of Zeus and the nymph Antiope, the queen of Thebes.
The god Hermes teaches Amphion music and gives him a beautiful golden lyre.
Amphion, having become king of Thebes,
fortifies the city with a wall. It is said that when he played on his lyre the stones moved of their own accord and took their places in the wall.
